A diaper is one of the basic needs that a baby should have. It is always worn by babies to prevent them from wetting the fabric that covers their cribs or beds. A diaper commonly looks like an underwear that is padded with absorbent material such as cotton. Typically, two different materials can be used to make diapers. One is made of organic fabric material and is called Cloth Diaper while the other one is made of synthetic material and is called “Disposable Diaper”. To differentiate the two materials used for making diapers, let us look at a brief comparison below.
The foremost difference of the two is the impact on the health of the baby of each specific diaper composition. A Cloth Diaper is proven to be more breathable than a Disposable Diaper for the reason that it has larger fabric spaces that is permeable enough to allow air to pass through easily into the baby’s bottom. In terms of absorbency, a Disposable Diaper is better than its counterpart but the Cloth Diaper is not far behind because it can be arranged into layers to create a more absorbent Cloth Diaper. A breathable diaper is always preferred to ensure comfort to the baby and prevent rashes from appearing due to perspiration if air does not circulate properly. An absorbent diaper is also wanted for the same reason of preventing the occurrence of rashes.
The two diaper materials also differ in cost and convenience. A Cloth Diaper is cheaper in terms of long term costs since it can be reused but is less convenient because it has to be properly washed before being used again. On the other hand, a Disposable Diaper may be more expensive but the convenience pays off well because after being worn, all that has to be done is to throw it in the proper place. But due to this, it can be observed that a reusable Cloth Diaper is more environment friendly than the one-time used Disposable Diaper.
